Homemade Chai Concentrate
Homemade Chai Concentrate is a spiced tea mixture brewed with cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and black tea, sweetened with sugar and simmered to infuse flavor. This concentrate is combined with non-dairy milk to create chai tea drinks served hot or cold, allowing control over sweetness and spice intensity.
Ingredients
- 6 cups of water
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar or more/less, to taste
- 20 cardamom pod cracked
- 15 cloves
- 3 cinnamon sticks broken
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- 8 black tea bags
Instructions
- Combine the water, sugar, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger in a large saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add tea bags and turn off the heat. Allow to steep for 5 minutes.
- Strain mixture. To serve, combine one part concentrate with one part non-dairy milk. Serve hot or chilled.
- Store concentrate in the fridge. It will keep for about one week.
