Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot water
  • ¾ cup good quality cocoa powder
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon REAL Vanilla Extract
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ground cinnamon optional
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Boil hot water and set aside. Combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt together in a saucepan. Wisk to combine.
  2. Add hot water whisking constantly over low heat until the mixture thickens and begins to simmer (about 8-10 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat and stir the vanilla and cinnamon (if desired) into the syrup. You will know it is done when it sticks to the back of a spoon.
  4. Serve warm or store and refrigerate until serving.

Notes

  • Store chocolate syrup in a mason jar or air-tight container in the fridge. It will last about 2 months.
  • *If making hot or cold chocolate milk add 1-3 tablespoons per 8 oz of milk. It depends on how sweet you like it! Serve over ice cream, or use it as the liquid for homemade tiramisu.
