Homemade Croutons

It's so quick and easy to make homemade croutons. Seasoned with garlic, salt and pepper, they are perfectly crispy and great for soups and salads.

Ingredients

  • 1 bread loaf about 12 ounces, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Drizzle the olive oil on top and sprinkle the garlic powder, salt and pepper. Use your hands to toss gently until well-combined.
  3. Transfer the bread cubes to the prepared baking sheet, and spread out into a single layer. Bake until golden, turning once halfway through cooking, for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Allow to cool completely to help them crisp up, and then used as desired.

Notes

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freezing Instructions: Place the baked breadcrumbs into a freezer bag and they will keep well for up to 6 months. To use, place the frozen croutons on a baking sheet and reheat at 250ºF until crisp.
