Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

Ingredients

  • 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk (1 can)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine the sweetened condensed milk, unsweetened cocoa and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat while stirring constantly until combined, then pour in the milk.
  3. Continue stirring until smooth, and cook until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Serve warm or let cool, then store in a mason jar in the fridge for up to a month.

Notes

  • This makes around 2 cups of hot fudge sauce. Serving size listed is 2 tablespoons. You can serve more or less, but the nutrition will vary accordingly.
  • You can make this a thicker sauce by adding less milk. If you want your fudge sauce to be thicker, start with ¼ cup of milk and see if that consistency is pleasing to you.
  • How to store: Cool the sauce before pouring into a mason jar or another airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to a month.
  • How to reheat: Pour into a bowl, and reheat in 15-second increments, stirring between each one so the chocolate sauce does not burn.
