Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup or adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: flavored syrup (vanilla, caramel, etc.), whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Brew a strong cup of coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature, or chill it in the refrigerator.
  2. In a tall glass, fill about three-quarters with ice cubes.
  3. Pour the cooled coffee over the ice.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, or adjust the amount based on your preferred sweetness level. Stir well to combine the syrup with the coffee.
  5. Pour in the milk and gently stir to mix.
  6. If desired, add a splash of flavored syrup like vanilla or caramel for extra flavor.
  7. Optionally, top with whipped cream.

Notes

  • Coffee Strength: The strength of your coffee can greatly impact the flavor of your iced coffee. If you prefer a stronger coffee taste, consider using a dark roast or brewing the coffee stronger than usual.
  • Sweetness Level: Adjust the amount of simple syrup based on your preference for sweetness. Start with a small amount and add more as needed.
  • Cold Brew Option: For a smoother taste, use cold brew coffee instead of regular brewed coffee. It’s less acidic and can be more flavorful when served cold.
  • NOTE: Simple Syrup is typically found in the beverage or cocktail mixers section. It's a common ingredient for cocktails, so it's often stocked near items like club soda, tonic water, and other mixers.
