Homemade Pan Release

Homemade pan release is a great alternative to nonstick baking sprays. This easy pan treatment allows you to grease and flour in one step.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a medium bowl, beat the oil and shortening together until well-combined.
  2. Stir in the flour just until incorporated.
  3. Store in a covered glass container in the fridge until ready to use.

Notes

  • Oil: A similar neutral oil, like canola oil, will also work.
  • Shortening: I haven't tried using another fat, like butter, in place of the shortening. 
  • Flour: A measure-for-measure gluten-free flour blend should also work in this recipe.
