Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cornmeal optional
  • 12 ounces pizza dough Homemade or storebought, 12-16 ounces works great
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 2 ounces pepperoni slices
  • flour for dusting when stretching dough

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Add a handul of cornmeal to the pan or oil the pan well.
  2. Gently stretch and knead the pizza dough on a clean countertop. Add a sprinkle of flour as you stretch the dough if the dough becomes sticky. Add flour to the rolling pin and roll the pizza dough until it is twelve inches across.
  3. Transfer the dough to the baking pan or round pizza pan.
  4. Add tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni.
  5. Bake the pizza for 10-12 minutes. The crust will be fluffy on the inside but golden brown on the outside when it has finished cooking. Remove from oven, slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • Allow refrigerated dough to rest at room temperature about 20 minutes before rolling to improve stretchability.
  • If holes develop in the dough during stretching, pinch them closed or reroll to repair.
  • Using cornmeal on the baking surface can help prevent sticking and add a slight texture to the crust.
  • The baking time excludes the preparation time if making dough from scratch.
