Homemade Pizza Sauce
This Homemade Pizza Sauce blends tomato sauce and paste with garlic paste and a mix of dried herbs and spices to create a flavorful base appropriate for covering large pizzas. The sauce offers a balanced taste including mild heat from red pepper flakes and subtle sweetness, ideal for complementing toppings without overpowering them.
Ingredients
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1 teaspoon basil dried
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- To a medium bowl or large measuring cup, add all ingredients and whisk together.
- Taste sauce and if needed, add additional salt, red pepper flakes, etc. if desired and to taste.
- Use as desired. I anticipate you can easily cover two large 12-inch pizzas with one batch of this sauce, but your mileage may vary.
- Sauce will keep airtight in the fridge for up to 1 week and in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Notes
- If garlic paste is unavailable, finely mince fresh garlic cloves equivalent to 1 tablespoon for a similar flavor.
- Alternatively, replace the oregano and basil with 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning to simplify ingredients.
- Store airtight in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 2 months to maintain freshness.
