Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 28 ounce San Marzano Tomatoes canned
  • 8-10 basil leaves roughly chiffonade fresh
  • 1 teaspoon salt sea salt

Instructions

  1. Add the tomatoes to a food processor and pulse on high about 20 to 25 times. The tomatoes should be smoother but still with some chunks. If you do not have a food processor you can use a blender or a food mill.
  2. Mix in the basil and salt and serve.

Notes

  • This pizza sauce can be prepared up to two days ahead to enhance flavors and save time.
  • Store in the refrigerator covered for up to six days or freeze for up to three months; thaw in the refrigerator before use.
  • Canned San Marzano tomatoes are preferred for consistency; fresh Roma tomatoes or other canned whole peeled tomatoes can be used with a bit of added sugar to balance acidity.
