Ingredients
- 28 ounce San Marzano Tomatoes canned
- 8-10 basil leaves roughly chiffonade fresh
- 1 teaspoon salt sea salt
Instructions
- Add the tomatoes to a food processor and pulse on high about 20 to 25 times. The tomatoes should be smoother but still with some chunks. If you do not have a food processor you can use a blender or a food mill.
- Mix in the basil and salt and serve.
Notes
- This pizza sauce can be prepared up to two days ahead to enhance flavors and save time.
- Store in the refrigerator covered for up to six days or freeze for up to three months; thaw in the refrigerator before use.
- Canned San Marzano tomatoes are preferred for consistency; fresh Roma tomatoes or other canned whole peeled tomatoes can be used with a bit of added sugar to balance acidity.
