Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground mace (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice , or cloves, or cardamom

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Measure all spices carefully into a small mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk thoroughly to combine and distribute all spices evenly.
  3. Transfer to an airtight container and label with the date.
  4. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months for maximum flavor.

Notes

  • For truly exceptional results, consider investing in whole spices and grinding them just before mixing your blend. Freshly ground cinnamon sticks, whole nutmeg, and whole allspice berries provide significantly more flavor than pre-ground versions. A dedicated coffee grinder used only for spices makes quick work of this process. If you do use pre-ground spices, purchase from a store with high turnover or a dedicated spice shop rather than spices that might have been sitting on grocery store shelves for months.
