Homemade Ranch Dressing with Buttermilk

Homemade ranch dressing with buttermilk is cool and creamy and a breeze to make! Full of tangy flavor, you’ll never buy store-bought again!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • ¼ to ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh chives
  • 1 small garlic clove or half of 1 large clove
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients with ¼ cup of the buttermilk to a blender. Puree for about 10 seconds to combine. Check the consistency and add additional buttermilk a couple tablespoons at a time if you desire a thinner dressing.
  2. Store in a glass jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for 7 to 10 days.

Notes

  • Nutritional values are based on 1 cup of dressing.
  • Mayonnaise and Sour Cream: Full-fat versions of both of these give the best flavor and texture. Low-fat versions will water down the dressing, both in taste and texture.
  • Lemon juice: You can substitute for lime juice or white vinegar if you don’t have any lemon juice.
  • Herbs: You can mix and match the herbs you use. You can also try dill, cilantro, and parsley. Onion powder is also a great addition!
  • Blender: Use your favorite blender or food processor to make this dressing.
