Homemade Thousand Island Dressing Recipe
This Homemade Thousand Island Dressing blends mayonnaise with finely diced yellow onion, bread and butter pickles, pimentos, chopped hard-boiled eggs, and a combination of chili sauce, Worcestershire, vinegar, hot sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper to create a creamy, slightly tangy, and flavorful condiment. The dressing is smooth with small textured bits, suitable for salads or sandwiches and can be prepared days ahead.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups mayonnaise
- ½ yellow onion peeled and small diced
- ½ cup Bread and butter pickles small diced
- 2 tablespoons Pimentos
- 2 egg hard-boiled, finely chopped
- ¼ cup chili sauce
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons white distilled vinegar
- 2 hot sauce dashes
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper cracked
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients to a large mixing bowl.
- Using a rubber spatula or a large spoon fold all of the ingredients together until they are completely combined.
- Refrigerate until ready to use.
Notes
- Make the dressing up to 3 days in advance to develop flavor.
- Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 7 days to maintain freshness.
- Minced bread and butter pickles can be used instead of sweet relish for a different taste.
- Grate hard-boiled eggs if chopping finely is difficult for more even distribution.
