Homemade Vodka Sauce
Our creamy vodka sauce is perfect for pasta, pizza, grilled veggies, and more. It's ready in just 30 minutes, can be frozen for later, and we even have vodka substitutes for those wanting an alternative.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup white onion diced, or yellow onion
- 2 teaspoons garlic about 2 cloves, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes crushed
- 1 tablespoon basil dried
- 1 (28 ounce can) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 cup diced white or yellow onion and sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Add 2 teaspoons minced garlic and 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, until the garlic is fragrant.
- Add 1 tablespoon dried basil 1 (28 ounce can) crushed tomatoes, and 1/2 cup vodka stirring well to combine. Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes until the sauce has reduced and thickened slightly.
- Stir in 1 cup heavy cream, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon black pepper. Simmer the sauce for an additional 5 minutes.
- Stir in 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese and simmer the sauce for another 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
Notes
- Optional: Use an immersion blender to blend the sauce until it reaches your desired consistency.
