Homemade Worcestershire Sauce
One of the more difficult sauces to replicate, you can make a homemade version of Worcestershire sauce for when you are in a pinch! Taste-test and add ingredients as needed to meet your personal taste preference!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce low sodium
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Optional Ingredients
- 1/2 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce use instead of anchovy paste!
- anchovy paste optional but will give it that savoury taste
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients except the optional ones together in a large capacity glass microwave-safe measuring cup. If you have it, mix in the tamarind sauce. Add the fish sauce OR add in a small amount of the anchovy paste, then taste test. Add to your liking.
- Heat in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between, until the mixture is boiling.
- Remove and cool.
Notes
- Not everyone has tamarind sauce, and this is an emergency type of recipe, so the main ingredients are going to get you close to the real thing. If you are looking to really make this homemade, buy the tamarind paste and play around with the fish sauce and anchovy to see which you prefer!
