Ingredients
Chicken Wings:
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1-2 teaspoons baking powder adjust to preference
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- kosher salt
- black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Honey Hot Chicken Wing Sauce:
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- ¼ cup hot sauce adjust based on preferred spice level
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning adjust to taste, I use Slap Ya Mama but you can use your favorite
Optional Garnishes:
- chopped fresh parsley
- green onions
- sesame seeds
Instructions
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. In a large clean bowl, toss the wings with garlic powder, onion powder, baking powder (1-2 teaspoons), smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until they are all evenly coated. Adjust baking powder quantity to preference.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
- Lightly brush or spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and then place the seasoned chicken wings in the basket in a single layer. Make sure they're not overcrowded.
- Cook the wings in the preheated air fryer for 25-30 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking to ensure even crisping.
- While the wings are cooking, prepare the Honey Hot Chicken Wing Sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once it's melted, stir in the hot sauce, honey, and Slap Ya Mama seasoning. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes and stir occasionally, until it reaches your preferred thickness.
- Once the wings are done cooking, transfer them to a large mixing bowl and then pour the hot honey sauce over the golden brown wings and toss them until they are evenly coated.
- Serve your delicious wings immediately with extra sauce, ranch, blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.
Cup of Yum
Notes
- Making a Double Batch: Adjust the quantities of ingredients accordingly to make a larger batch to accommodate a larger gathering or event. Just be sure to cook the chicken wings in batches in the air fryer.
- Don't Overcrowd: The key to crispy wings in the air fryer is to make sure there's plenty of space around the wings.
- Adjust to Your Spice Level: You can easily adjust the spiciness by choosing a milder sauce, using less hot sauce, or if you like it hot, feel free to add more!
