Ingredients
Short grain brown rice
- 191 g short grain brown rice
- tap water for rinsing
- 10 fl oz filtered water
Long grain brown rice
- 178 g long grain brown rice
- tap water for rinsing
- 10 fl oz filtered water
Instructions
- Rinse the rice method A. Put brown rice in a metal strainer and rinse with tap water the sink for 10-15 seconds to remove excess starch and sediment, then pour the drained rice into the pot.
- Rinse the rice method B. Put brown rice in the rice cooker pot and fill with tap water until the rice is covered by 1/2 to 1". Use your hands to move the rice around gently to clean the grains. Pour out the water without pouring out the rice. Repeat this process 2 times. Make sure to drain all the water when finished.
- Add filtered water into the rice cooker, swirling in the pot if necessary so the grains of rice are level and no grains are sticking to the sides of the pot.
- Press start on your rice cooker. sure your rice maker is on and follow the manual instructions. Our rice cooker provides a “quick” setting along with a “normal” setting. I more often than not choose “quick” because it gives me the same results for a shorter amount of time. While the rice is cooking, do not lift the lid so as not to lose steam.
- Once the rice is done, leave the cooker closed for an additional 5 minutes, then open. The surface will be flat.
- Open the lid and fluff the rice with a rice paddle.
- Serve rice onto bowls and enjoy.
