How To Cook Frozen Asparagus In The Air Fryer
With perfectly crisp edges and a sprinkle of cheesy deliciousness, this air fryer frozen asparagus recipe transforms a contentious veggie into a crowd-pleasing side dish everyone will love. Ready in 15 minutes and foolproof, it's the easiest way to make asparagus the star of your plate!
Ingredients
- 8 oz asparagus 226 g, frozen spears
- 2 Tbsp neutral cooking oil 30 mL, generic cooking oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Parmesan Cheese lemon juice/zest, optional, grated
Instructions
- Stir: In a large bowl toss together asparagus, oil, salt, and pepper to evenly coat each spear.
- Preheat: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) for 5 minutes.*
- Cook: Transfer asparagus to the air fryer in as much of a single layer as possible. Cook, shaking the pan once during cooking, until slightly crispy and browned, about 10 to 13 minutes.
Notes
- *Why preheat? We don't usually preheat our air fryer, but in the case of frozen vegetables, we want high heat right away to prevent sogginess!
- Do I still need oil? While the air fryer does a great job circulating hot air, a little oil goes a long way in achieving maximum crispiness and a golden color. You can omit it if you prefer, but it won't be quite as brown.
- If you have fresh asparagus, air fry at 375 degrees F for about 9-10 minutes.
