How to Cook Quinoa
Sharing the best method for how to cook quinoa so it turns out light and fluffy every single time! It cooks up in 20 minutes and can be used in a variety of different recipes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup quinoa any color, dry
- 1 ¾ cups water or vegetable broth
- ¼ teaspoon salt sea salt
- black pepper olive oil fresh herbs, etc, optional, ground, for toppings
Instructions
- Rinse and drain quinoa in a fine mesh strainer.
- Place quinoa, water and salt into a medium saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to simmer, cover and let cook for 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat after 15 minutes and let sit covered for about 5 minutes to let it soak up any remaining liquid. Remove lid and fluff with a fork, then transfer quinoa to a large bowl to cool. Adding toppings before serving or use in any recipes that call for cooked quinoa.
Notes
- Storage: Once cooled, place quinoa in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for about 1 month.
