How to Cook Wax Beans

Ingredients
- 1 pound wax beans
- 1 teaspoon canola oil optional
- salt and pepper to taste

- Snap or cut off the stem ends of each bean. Slice the beans into smaller pieces, if desired. Place the beans on a plate and dry them with a paper towel.

Steamed Wax Beans
- Fill a large pot with 1 to 2 inches of water. Put a steamer insert into the pot.
- Place the wax beans into the steamer.
- Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
- Steam for about 5 minutes or until it is cooked to your desired level of tenderness.
Roasted Wax Beans
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- Add wax beans on a rimmed baking sheet. Toss them with salt, pepper and oil.
- Arrange the beans so that they are in a single layer.
- Roast for about 20 minutes, flipping them over halfway through so they cook evenly.
- Remove the baking sheet and allow the beans to slightly cool before serving.
Stir-Fried Wax Beans
- Add oil to a large skillet and add wax beans.
- Stir constantly using a wooden spoon. Cook for 2 and 3 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper, or other seasonings. Continue to stir-fry the beans, stirring them constantly, for approximately 4 more minutes.
