  1. Remove the stems and seeds from the dried ancho chiles and tear them into small pieces.
  2. Toast the chile pieces in a dry skillet over medium heat until fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Allow the toasted chiles to cool entirely, then grind them into a fine powder with a spice grinder or mini food processor.
  4. Transfer the ancho chile powder to an airtight container.
