How to Make Apple Butter
A homemade apple butter recipe, slightly adapted from Williams Sonoma.
Ingredients
- 4 pounds honeycrisp apples peeled, cored and quartered
- 1 ½ cups apple cider sweetened
- ½ cup water
- lemon juice of 1
- 2 cups white sugar organic for vegan-friendly
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large Dutch oven, combine the apples, apple cider, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and then lower to a simmer. Cook, covered, for 30 minutes or until the apples are mushy. Puree with an immersion blender.
- Stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Cook on medium-low heat, uncovered, for an hour or until thickened, stirring frequently.
- Store in the refrigerator in a sealed container.
