Ingredients
- ½ cup butter preferably unsalted
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups stock chicken, beef, vegetable
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Begin by dividing the butter into smaller pieces and melting them over low heat in a pan. Stir it continuously until it reaches a foamy consistency.
- Add the flour into the melted butter, whisking until it is well combined. When these ingredients are mixed well, the mixture should give off a scent similar to an oven-baked pie.
- Pour in the stock in three parts. Whisk vigorously after every addition of stock and avoid adding it all at once. You should wait until the stock is absorbed before adding more.
- If the gravy is not thick enough, you can stir in about 1/3 cup of heavy cream or until the gravy coats your ladle or spoon.
- When you’ve achieved your ideal consistency, add salt and pepper as needed. Serve and enjoy.
