How to make mayonnaise

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vegetable oil (like olive, rapeseed, canola or mixed)
  • 1 medium or large egg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or lime (or vinegar)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or more)

Instructions

  1. Place oil, egg, lemon juice or vinegar and salt in a jar.
  2. Using stab mixer, blend until the mixture turns creamy and white.
  3. Use fresh or seal jar and refrigerate for future use.

Notes

  • If using only olive oil, use the extra light tasting one or mix it with other oils like canola, vegetable or rapeseed oil so the taste will not be too intense.
  • Can also be done using blender. Can be kept refrigerated for a couple of days.
