How to make Mimosas

Recipe video above. Excellent mood lifter for any celebatory occassion! Think: brunch with friends, Mother's Day, birthdays, Christmas, Easter! While you can totally get away with using an economical sparkling wine or champagne, I really encourage you to use fresh orange juice. And a strawberry for garnish!

Ingredients

  • 1/3 glass orange juice , fresh, chilled
  • 2/3 glass champagne, sparkling wine (brut), Cava or prosseco , chilled (Note 1)
  • strawberry , for garnish

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Fill champagne flute 1/3 of the way with orange juice.
  2. Top with champagne, garnish with strawberry. Cheers!

Notes

  • The best champagne for Mimosas is real French champagne which is expensive. But brut sparkling wine, Cava and dry prossecos are excellent alternatives that most restaurants and bars use.
  • Look for "brut" sparkling wine or champagne - "brut" means dry and that's what you want for Mimosas (rather than sweet).
  • I use sparkling wine that's around $12 - $15 per bottle. If I splurge of French Champagne ($50 up!), I drink it straight!
