How to Make Pesto

Homemade pesto is a favorite olive oil-based sauce made with fresh basil and pine nuts. With this recipe, you can make any homemade pasta dish taste like its from an Italian restaurant!

Ingredients

  • 6 cups fresh basil leaves stems removed
  • 1 cup pine nuts toasted for extra flavor if desired
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Add the basil leaves, garlic cloves, and pine nuts to a food processor and blend until the ingredients are finely minced.
  2. Slowly add the olive oil and blend until smooth with the food processor on low speed.
  3. Add the grated parmesan cheese and blend by pulsating a few times until combined.
  4. Scoop the pesto into a serving bowl and use it on pasta, salad, or as a dip.
