Ingredients

  • turkey drippings
  • chicken or vegetable stock if needed (enough to equal 1 ½ cups of liquid when combined with drippings)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Pour the drippings into a measuring cup and add enough vegetable or chicken stock to equal 1 ½ cups.
  2. Pour the liquid into a medium saucepan.
  3. Whisk the flour and water in a small bowl. Slowly add to the saucepan and heat over medium heat until thickened and smooth, about 2 minutes.

Notes

  • If your drippings are more than 1 1/2 cups, feel free to double the recipe!
  • If you prefer to skim the fat from the drippings, pour the drippings into a measuring cup. Skim the fat from the top of the drippings and return them to the saucepan before adding the flour and water mixture.
  • A 12 pound bird will yield approximately 3/4 cup of drippings. Our Thanksgiving turkey recipe results in delicious drippings, thanks to the herb butter and fruit.
