Ingredients

  • 1 pound chestnuts
  • water

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat oven to 425 F.
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut a small X on the rounded side of each chestnut to prevent them from exploding during roasting.
  3. In a large bowl, soak chestnuts in hot water for about 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Arrange chestnuts with the cut side up on a rimmed baking sheet and lightly sprinkle with water. Roast for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and transfer into a bowl. Cover with a towel for about 10 to 15 minutes to allow to steam.
  6. While still warm, quickly peel the skins. If becoming hard to peel, warm them in the oven for a few minutes.
  7. Serve immediately or store peeled chestnuts in an airtight container or resealable bag and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
