How To Steam Sweet Potato In Microwave

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • salt & pepper
  • butter optional

Instructions

  1. Place one tablespoon of water in the bottom of your steamer basket.
  2. Fork your sweet potato so that it can breathe as it cooks.
  3. Load your sweet potatoes into the steamer basket and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the lid on the steamer and then place in the microwave.
  5. Microwave for 7-10 minutes depending on your microwave wattage.
  6. Remove the lid, allow the steam to release, and do a fork test to make sure the sweet potato is fork tender. Then serve with butter and your favourite toppings.

Notes

  • Steam – Note there is a lot of steam, so allow the steam to go before removing into a dish.
  • Wattage – The cook time for your baked sweet potatoes will vary depending on your wattage. Our 800w microwave cooked the sweet potatoes in 10 minutes.
