Iced Mocha Recipe
This Iced Mocha Recipe blends a hot cocoa mixture made with milk, sugar, and cocoa powder with cold coffee to create a smooth, chilled mocha drink. Served over ice and optionally topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup, it offers a rich balance of chocolate and coffee flavors. The recipe allows sweetness adjustment and alternative preparation methods for cold coffee.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup milk any percentage, divided
- 1 granulated sugar to 2 tablespoons (12 to 25g
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder 5g
- 1 cup coffee cold
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream optional
- Whipped Cream optional for topping
- chocolate syrup optional for topping
Instructions
- In a small pot, combine 2 tablespoons of the milk, sugar, and cocoa powder. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly, until mixture begins to simmer and is well-combined and smooth.
- Remove from heat and whisk in cold coffee, remaining 2 tablespoons of the milk, and optional heavy cream.
- Pour over a 16-ounce cup (or mason jar) of ice, top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup if desired, and enjoy.
Notes
- Use 1 tablespoon sugar for a less sweet mocha or 2 tablespoons for a sweeter drink that balances ice melt.
- For cold coffee, brew double-strength coffee then pour over ice, or cool hot coffee in the freezer for 15–20 minutes to room temperature.
- To make a mocha frappuccino, blend 1½ cups ice with the mocha prepared with heaping tablespoons of sugar instead of level measures to maintain sweetness after blending.
