Individual Toad in the Hole

Perfect for any time of day, this recipe delivers great flavor effortlessly.

Ingredients

  • 150 ml milk
  • 150 ml water
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 125 g plain flour
  • 12 pork chipolata sausages or 6 standard pork sausages cut in half
  • vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 220°C/fan forced 200°C/gas mark 7.
  2. Pour the milk and water into the blender (or bowl)
  3. Add the eggs and a pinch of salt.
  4. Wizz until combined.
  5. Add the flour and mix well on a medium/high setting until there are no lumps.
  6. Set the batter aside for 10 minutes.
  7. Pour a small amount of oil into 12 holes of a standard muffin tin. (I use two 6 hole tins)
  8. Place the muffin tins in the oven to heat up whilst the batter rests.
  9. Carefully remove the tins from the oven and add a sausage to each hole.
  10. Pour over the batter and bake in the middle of the oven for 20-25 minutes.
  11. Enjoy in the garden with salad or more traditionally covered in gravy.
