  • ½ cup (75) frozen diced bell pepper or 1 pepper deseeded and finely diced
  • 1 ½ pounds (675g) lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic puree
  • ¼ cup (59ml) water
  • 1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup (225g) tomato sauce
  • ½ cup (117g) ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon Tamari soy sauce the secret ingredient that adds great depth of flavor!
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 8 toasted burger buns split (use gluten free buns if desired)

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Set the Instant Pot to the sauté setting, heat oil in the Instant Pot Insert, add the onions peppers, and sauté for 4-5 minutes, until the onion is soft.
  2. Next add the beef and garlic, and sauté for a few minutes until the beef is brown.
  3. Switch off the heat, stir in water and vinegar and thoroughly deglaze the pot.
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients until the black pepper, but do not mix.
  5. Cover your Instant Pot, turn the valve to sealing, and set to manual pressure / high pressure for 5 minutes.
  6. When done, allow for a 10-minute Natural Pressure Release then quick release the rest of the steam.
  7. Stuff the burger buns with the Sloppy Joe mix and serve.

Notes

  • For something different, serve Instant Pot Sloppy Joes the ‘Jamie Oliver way.’ Jamie serves his sloppy joes inside of whole wheat wraps instead of hamburger buns.
  • Make sure to use lean ground beef. If you don’t, you will need to drain the excess fat before adding the meat to the Instant Pot.
  • Tamari soy sauce is my ‘secret ingredient’ that adds great depth of flavor, but you can also use fish sauce instead.
  • If you like a little heat, add in chili flakes or some diced jalapeno peppers.
  • Storage - keep in an airtight container inside the fridge for 3 days.
  • There are 9 WW Blue Plan SmartPoints in one serving of this.
