Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Scotch bonnet pepper powder
- 2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon allspice powder
- 2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground ginger
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a small bowl.
- Whisk together until evenly blended.
- Transfer to a jar with a tight fitting lid.

Notes
- Heat Level: You can adjust the amount of Scotch bonnet pepper powder to increase or decrease the heat level for this Jamaican seasoning. You can also replace it with two teaspoons of cayenne if you like it milder. If you really love a a hot spice blend, add more spicy flavor with one of the hotter chili peppers like a ghost pepper, or reaper. (These are really, really hot, so don't say I didn't warn you!)
- Storage: Store your homemade spice rub in an airtight container like a glass jar with a lid, in a cool dark place, like your pantry. If it's properly stored and fresh spices were used as ingredients, it should keep for up to a year. Once you notice the flavors have dulled, it's time to make a new batch!
