Light & Fluffy Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting
This whipped cream cheese frosting is seriously the only recipe you'll ever need – light as air but still rich and tangy. Perfect on everything from carrot cake to cinnamon rolls.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces cream cheese softened
- ½ cup butter softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Whip the cream cheese and butter together until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream.
- Whip for 5 minutes until light and fluffy.
Notes
- Be careful not to overwhip the frosting, as it can cause the cream cheese to become too soft and the frosting to lose its structure.
- This frosting is sturdy enough to hold up between cake layers, making it an excellent choice for layered cakes without being overly heavy.
- Adjust the amount of powdered sugar to suit your taste. For a less sweet frosting, reduce the sugar slightly, but keep in mind it may affect the texture.
- For a lactose-free version, use lactose-free cream cheese and butter.
