Loaded Cheese Fries

A big pile of crispy french fries smothered in melty cheese and bacon, topped with green onions and your fave toppings!

Ingredients

Fries
  • 32 ounces frozen French fries or 8 cups homemade french fries
Toppings
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons cooked and crumbled bacon or real bacon bits
  • 1 cup brown gravy homemade or packet, optional
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (or cook fries in the air fryer per directions in the notes).
  2. Add the fries to a rimmed baking sheet and cook for 25-30 minutes or until extra crisp, stirring after 15 minutes.
  3. Once the fries are crisp, remove them from the oven and turn the broiler on to 500°F.
  4. Top the fries with cheddar and bacon and place back into the oven for 1-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  5. Top with green onions. If using, drizzle with brown gravy and top with sour cream. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Thicker fries may need more time, thinner fries may need a bit less time. Appliances can vary but it is easy to check on the fries a couple of minutes early and add more time if needed.
  • To make frozen fries in the air fryer, cook several smaller batches. Cook each batch at 390°F for 10 to 14 minutes or until crisp. Once ready to serve, add all fries to the air fryer basket reheat for 2 to 3 minutes.  Top with cheese and bacon and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
