Low Carb Baking Blend - An Alternative To Flour
This Low Carb Baking Blend is a dry mix combining oat fiber, coconut flour, whey protein powder, golden flaxseed meal, and xanthan gum as a substitute for traditional flour. It provides a low-carbohydrate alternative suitable for baking recipes that require structure and moisture retention. Blending these ingredients thoroughly ensures an even distribution and a consistent baking base.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup oat fiber NOT oat flour
- 1 cup coconut flour
- 1/2 cup whey protein powder unflavored
- 1 cup golden flaxseed meal I used a flaxseed & chia seed mix
- 1 1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum or glucomannan powder
Instructions
- Whisk all ingredients together in a large bowl. Place in an airtight container.
Notes
- This blend is not a direct 1:1 replacement for all-purpose flour; use about 3/4 to 1 cup for every cup of flour called for in recipes.
- Store the mixture in an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent moisture absorption.
- 1/4 cup of this baking blend contains roughly 3.34 net grams of carbohydrates, useful for tracking low carb diets.
