Manhattan (Rye whiskey, sweet vermouth and bitters)

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. vermouth
  • 2 oz. rye whiskey
  • A few drops of Angostura bitters
  • Lots of ice cubes
  • 1 maraschino cherry

  • Cocktail glass

Instructions

  1. To start, cool the glass by filling it with ice cubes. The cocktail should be as cold as possible.
  2. Pour the vermouth directly into the shaker.
  3. Add the rye whisky.
  4. Then add the Angostura bitters.
  5. Fill the shaker with ice cubes and mix with a spoon for 15 seconds.
  6. Throw the ice cubes out of the serving cup, making sure that there is no water left in the bottom.
  7. Place the strainer on the shaker, then pour the content into the glass (discard the ice cubes).
  8. Add a maraschino cherry.
