Ingredients

  • 2 (8 ounce) ham steaks
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Stone ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter melted

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup maple syrup, 2 tablespoons stone ground mustard and the melted 1 tablespoon salted butter. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place one ham steak in the hot skillet and brush the top with the maple mustard mixture. Cook for 3–4 minutes, or until the bottom is lightly browned. Flip the ham steak, brush the other side with the mixture, and cook for another 3–4 minutes. Flip the steak again and cook for an additional 60–90 seconds to caramelize the glaze.
  3. Remove the ham steak from the skillet and set aside. Repeat with the second ham steak, using the remaining glaze. Serve hot.

Notes

  • A thicker ham steak (about ½ to 1 inch) works best for this recipe as it cooks evenly and stays juicier. Thinly sliced ham steaks can dry out quickly, so keep an eye on the cooking time if you use them.
