Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 yellow onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons oregano dried
  • 2 teaspoons basil dried
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, crushed

Instructions

  1. Add the olive oil and onion to the pan and sauté until very lightly browned.
  2. Spoon in the garlic and cook for another 20 seconds.
  3. Add in the rest of the ingredients and simmer, covered, on low for 30 minutes.
