Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • olive oil as needed
  • hot pepper flakes to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic chopped
  • 28 ounces tomatoes whole or crushed
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh basil chopped, to taste

Instructions

  1. Add some olive oil to a saucepan over medium-high heat. (A little more than what’s necessary to just cover the bottom).
  2. Add the red pepper flakes and garlic and gently simmer for a minute or two.
  3. Add the tomatoes. If using whole tomatoes, crush them with your hands.
  4. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add the basil.
  6. Simmer for 15 minutes or until your desired consistency is achieved.
  7. Serve
