Martini (Dry Martini)

The Martini, Dry Martini or Martini gin is a US cocktail based on gin and white vermouth garnished with a lemon peel or a green olive.

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz. vermouth
  • 1½ oz. gin
  • A few drops of orange bitters
  • lemon zest (or green olives)
  • Ice cubes

  • Cocktail spoon
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Martini glass

Instructions

  1. Place the martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes.
  2. In a shaker, place the ice cubes then pour the vermouth, the gin, and a few drops of orange bitters.
  3. Shake for 10 seconds.
  4. Place the strainer on the shaker, then pour the content into the martini glass (discard the ice cubes).
  5. Finish by adding the garnish, either a zest of lemon or one or two green olives.
