Ingredients
- 4-5 medium boiled potatoes
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tsp lemon juice or amchur powder
- ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds
- 16 slices bread
- 4 tablespoon butter
- salt as per taste
- 1 small green chilli chopped
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add boiled potatoes. Use a potato masher or fork to mash the potatoes. You may grate them too. Add chopped onions, green chilies, and salt and spices. Mix well.
- On a single slice of bread, spread the potato mixture uniformly. Place another slice of bread on top of it.Note: If you are a cheese fan, add grated mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, or cheese slice at this step and cook till it melts.Place this sandwich on a hot iron tawa (season it with oil or butter). Apply butter to the sandwich. Flip it and cook from both sides. Let it cook on slow flame for a crispy texture. It takes about 2-3 minutes to cook one pair of sandwiches.
- The Potato Sandwich is ready. Serve it with Green chutney.

Notes
- Expert Tips:
- If you are using freshly boiled potatoes, it would be easy to mash them with a fork. For already boiled potatoes, take them out 15 min before making the sandwich.
- Make sure to season the iron tawa with ghee or oil for the perfect brown crispy sandwich.
- Wipe clean the tawa with a kitchen clothe or raw onion for the next sandwich.
