Ingredients

  • 2 cups (470 milliliters) milk
  • 3 ounces (85 grams) white chocolate finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons (4 grams) matcha green tea powder
  • 1/3 cup (80 milliliters) hot water not boiling
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream or marshmallows for garnish
  • Additional matcha for sprinkling, optionally mixed with a little vanilla or powdered sugar for sweetness

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a small saucepan, place milk over medium-low heat. Once steaming but not yet at a boil, remove from heat and add the white chocolate. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Sift the matcha into a small bowl, pour in the hot water. Whisk until smooth and completely dissolved with no lumps. Whisk into the white hot chocolate, followed by the vanilla extract.
  3. Serve immediately with whipped cream or marshmallows. If desired, sprinkle with a little more matcha.

Notes

  • For Hojicha Hot Chocolate- swap the matcha for equal parts Hojicha Powder. If desired, add a tablespoon or so of maple syrup and a pinch of salt in addition to the white chocolate, milk, and vanilla extract.
