Mexican Chocolate Haystacks

One of my favorite treats to make are these easy chocolate haystacks. They are so simple to make: chocolate and chow mein noodles, that’s it, and the best part is there is no baking involved. It’s the perfect cookie for children to help make.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate morsels
  • 1 3.3 ounce tablet Mexican chocolate (recommend Nestle-Abuelita)
  • ½ teaspoon instant coffee
  • 6 ounces Chow Mein noodles

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Place chocolate in a large microwave-safe container. Heat in microwave 1 to 2 minutes or until almost melted, stirring after 1 minute. Then stir until smooth.
  2. Add coffee and chow mein noodles. Stir until well coated.
  3. Drop mixture by spoonfuls onto a waxed paper-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate until firm.
  4. Store in sealed container in cool area.

Notes

  • Either give these Mexican chocolate haystacks as a gift or give the ingredients in small mason jars with a recipe.
