Miso Maple Glazed Salmon
Miso Maple Glazed Salmon combines the umami-rich depths of miso paste with the sweet, smooth notes of maple syrup, balanced by a touch of rice vinegar and soy sauce. The glaze is brushed onto salmon fillets which are baked then broiled briefly to achieve a caramelized, slightly browned finish. The result is a tender, flaky fish with a glossy, flavorful crust accented by optional sesame seeds and scallions for texture and freshness.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons miso paste any type
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce low sodium, or tamari if gluten free
- ½ teaspoon sesame oil
- 4 salmon fillet about 5 ounces each
- sesame seeds optional garnishes, scallions chopped
- scallions optional garnishes, scallions chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- Mix the miso paste, maple syrup, vinegar, soy sauce and sesame oil together in a bowl until smooth. If needed, add a small amount of water.
- Place the salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Brush the glaze on top of the salmon. Place the baking sheet on the top rack in the oven and cook 8-10 minutes until salmon is just cooked through. Turn the broiler on high and broil the salmon for another 2 minutes until it is browned in spots. Garnish salmon with sesame seeds and scallions, if desired.
Notes
- Monitor the salmon closely during broiling to prevent the miso glaze from burning.
- Line the baking sheet with aluminum foil for easier cleanup after glazing and broiling the fish.
- The salmon is perfectly cooked when the flesh flakes easily under gentle pressure with a fork.
