Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Make your own Mozzarella Cheese Sticks for the best tasting snack or treat. With only 6 ingredients, and oil to fry it in, it is incredibly easy to make fried cheese. One bite and you will be in melted cheese heaven.

Ingredients

  • 1 package string cheese 16 oz
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • cooking oil for frying
  • serving
  • ranch dressing
  • marinara sauce
  • parsley optional, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add about 2 inches of oil to heavy skillet and heat to 350 degrees F.
  2. Add breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning to shallow bowl or plate and mix with fork.
  3. In another shallow bowl or plate, add flour.
  4. In a small bowl whisk together egg, salt, pepper and buttermilk, then add to shallow bowl or plate.
  5. Dip cheese stick into egg mixture, then into flour, back into the egg mixture and then into the breadcrumbs. Press crumbs into cheese gently.
  6. Add to hot oil and cook for about 2 minutes or until golden brown, turning frequently.
  7. Serve immediately!
