Mushroom Gravy Sauce Recipe

This mushroom sauce is easy to make and adds a lot of flavor when topped on beef, hamburger steaks, pork chops or chicken.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz package of sliced mushrooms
  • ¼ cup onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp sage
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup flour or for low carb cream cheese
  • 3 cups vegetable broth
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat add butter, onion, garlic and mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until liquid evaporates.
  2. Stir in flour, continuing to stir for about 5 minutes or until flour is well combined. Add 1 cup of vegetable broth stir until completely incorporated. Slowly add in the remainder of the broth stirring constantly. 
  3. Season with thyme, sage and rosemary. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until thickened, about 20-30 minutes. Stirring often.
