Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons unsalted butter
  • 12 ounces cremini mushrooms sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 3/4 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and cook until golden, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the white wine, stirring to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Cook until the wine is mostly evaporated.
  4. Stir in the vegetable broth and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in fresh thyme leaves and season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
