Mushroom Sauce for Steak

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces mushrooms sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup beef broth low sodium
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium size skillet over medium heat. 
  2. Add the mushrooms and let them cook until softened and darkened in color. 
  3. Add the garlic and let cook an additional 30 seconds. 
  4. Pour in the beef broth and heavy cream. Stir to combine. 
  5. Stir in the salt, Worcestershire sauce and ground black pepper. 
  6. Allow this to cook over medium heat at a low simmer for 8-10 minutes while stirring occasionally until the sauce is thickened. 
  7. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. 
  8. Serve over steak and top with additional pepper and fresh herbs.
