Nashville Hot Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1-2 pounds bone-in chicken thighs and legs
  • Salt and pepper, to season chicken
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • Olive oil spray
  • Nashville hot chicken sauce (link)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl add the buttermilk and eggs and whisk until combined.
  3. In another medium-sized bowl add the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Using tongs, dredge the chicken first in the flour mixture, then the buttermilk mixture, and then lastly again in the flour mixture.
  5. Place in the bottom of the air fryer basket.
  6. Cook at 360 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Open the basket and spray any flour with the cooking spray. Turn the chicken and cook for another 5-10 minutes until 165 degrees and no longer pink.
  7. Prepare the Nashville hot chicken sauce according to the instructions in the link while your chicken is cooking.
  8. Immediately baste the hot chicken with the sauce and enjoy!
