Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) salted butter
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 ½ teaspoons minced fresh thyme (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons minced fresh rosemary (or ½ teaspoon dried rosemary)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh oregano (or ½ teaspoon dried oregano)
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 2 lbs. shrimp, unpeeled (I use “jumbo” shrimp with 16-20 ct./lb.)

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a large cast iron skillet or Dutch oven, melt the butter with the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic, green onions, salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, rosemary, oregano, cayenne, bay leaf and lemon slices. Increase heat and bring to a simmer. Once the mixture simmers, remove from the heat.
  2. Add the shrimp to the skillet with the sauce; toss to coat.
  3. Transfer the skillet to the oven. Bake for about 13-15 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink, stirring occasionally and basting with the sauce. Remove the skillet from the oven. Remove the bay leaf. Spoon the shrimp and sauce into bowls and serve.

Notes

  • You can cook this BBQ shrimp dish on the stovetop, too. Just use the same large skillet -- preferably a cast iron skillet or something non-stick -- that you used for the flavorful sauce, and cook the shrimp over medium heat until the shrimp begin to turn a pinkish color and the shells crisp up.
